Wages in Albania vary from Lek 2,500 to Lek 124,000. Based on the data provided by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) on the labor market during 2016, nonprofit organizations provide the best-paid jobs. According to the report, the salaries that nonprofit organizations pay to their employees are the highest in Albania. They pay an average monthly gross salary of Lek 124,000 or about $1,000. Moreover, the banking sector and insurance companies rank second with a monthly average salary of Lek 98,000.
Further on, information technology ranks third with an average salary of Lek 70,000. Employees working in scientific and technical activities rank fourth.
On the other hand, people working in restaurants and hotels have average monthly revenues of Lek 25,000.
The monthly average gross salary in Albania during 2016 was Lek 45,845. Meanwhile, the average wage for public administration employee was Lek 55,472. State officials are among the highest paid employees. Moreover, the report says that the labor force during 2016 was 1,157,000 people. It increased by 6.5 percent compared to 2015, while the number of unemployed people was 207,770 people.
