The parliamentary Law Commission approved on Monday the ratification of two cooperation agreements between Albania and Germany in the energy field.
According to the deputy Minister of Energy and Industry Ilir Bejtja, these agreements are of a great importance for the increase of cooperation between the public sector of production, transmission and distribution of energy with the private sector. Bejtja said that this ensures for the first time an efficiency fund through the bank system in an agreement with the German government.
Through the first agreement the government aims to apply a financial instrument in the bank system which will have a great impact in this sector and to support investments in saving energy at small and medium sized opportunities, in houses and municipalities. The second agreement is a grant of EUR 20 million which will be used for the maintenance of Drini cascade for the safety in hydropower plants.
