The KfW (German development bank) will finance the construction of the Albania – Kosovo electric energy transmission line through a loan worth 42 million Euro.
The loan agreement reached between the KfW and the Albanian government for the financing of the “400 kV interconnection line Albania – Kosovo” project has been recently approved by the government. The agreement was signed by the Albanian Transmission System Operator sh.a., the responsible institution for the implementation of the project. Albania will pay the 42 ml Euro loan within a period of 8 years, from June 30th of 2016 until December 30th of 2024.
The construction of the high voltage 400kV interconnection line Kosovo-Albania will increase the transmission of the electrical energy between the two countries. It will also improve the electrical energy supply for Albania and Kosovo consumers and is an added value to the electric energy infrastructure in the Southeast Europe region.
