Albanian Minister of Energy and Industry, Damian Gjiknuri, had an official visit in Norway where he met with its Norwegian counterpart, Tord Lien. Gjiknuri stated during the meeting with Minister Lien that the priority of Albania in the energy sector, is the establishment of a joint Albania-Kosovo energy market.
The discussions between two high officials focused on the reforms in the energy sector in Albania and foreign investments in this field. “Albania can benefit much from the experience and the assistance of Norway in this sector in order to enhance its capacities”, declared Gjiknuri.
Albanian Minister of Energy and Industry also met with the president of “Statkraft”, the Norwegian company that is currently investing in Albania in the energy sector with the construction of 20 new hydro centrals. The most important project of this investment is the Devolli project, comprised by two Hydro centrals, the project of Banje which is expected to end by 2016, and the other important project in Moglice which may end in 2018.
During his official visit in Norway, Gjinkuri had meetings with heads of some important Norwegian companies in the electric energy and hydrocarbons sector. According to the Minister, these companies expressed their interest to invest in Albania.
