TIRANA, January 20
The German government expressed willingness for supporting and promoting Albanian authentic wine varietals through the creation of the wine roads. The wine routes will be a great option for tourists that want to discover Albanian vineyards and attractions. This project consists on the establishment of specific wine roads that will be used by visitors. Wine tourism is expected to increase the number of tourists and also boost the Albanian wine industry. In order to make this possible, Minister of Agriculture Edmond Panariti asked support from the German government during an official visit to Berlin. He held a meeting with a member of the Bundestag Kordula Kovac who guaranteed support and legal assistance for becoming part of the EU Instruments for pre-accession.
Moreover, Minister Panariti also required support by the German side for defining the exact age of centennial olive trees. This will help for the protection of old trees by proclaiming them natural monuments.
On the other hand, the Minister for Food and Agriculture is Christian Schmidt said that his country will support Albania on the establishment of a regional laboratory that will cover the Western Balkans. It will be assisted by a German referral lab in order to avoid delays for agricultural products in cross border points.
