Prime Minister Edi Rama has considered the construction of the electrical substation in Zemblak area in Korca as the biggest investment made in the area, supported by the $4.5 mln loan of German state through KfW bank. This substation is part of southern electrical ring, and the finalization of it will eliminate blackouts in the area, by improving the conditions for touristic areas.
Prime Minister inspected the substation accompanied by the head of Transmission System Operator, Engjell Zeqo and institution’s administrator Adrian Cela. Cela stated that “Korca is a strategic location that has showed a positive performance regarding electrical energy loses, but it is not in the proper levels. We aim the reduction of loses in the network and the increase of electrical energy bills payment by locals”.
KfW bank has allocated a $49 mln loan to the Albanian government, as a German government fund for the construction of southern electrical ring, an important project in improving electrical energy supply in southern Albania.The finalization of this project will help in the improvement of infrastructure for tourists during summer in coastline cities of Vlora, and Saranda which host thousands of tourists during this period of the year. The loan provided by the German government predicts the construction of another electrical substation in Erseka, a $2.6 mln investment.
