In the framework of improving and contributing to the tourism sector, the General Directorate of Taxes in cooperation with the Police Department of Vlora city have undertaken a joint control action to retail subjects whose trade activity is focused along the coastline. The purpose of this action is the identification of fraudulent traders which do not meet the required criteria in trading different items, such as food and beverages or other types of items.
According to official sources, this measure aims to reduce the fiscal evasion, the non-declaration of incomes and the informality among businesses which operate in the tourism sector in Vlora city. The action has resulted in the confiscation of merchandises for 37 subjects and the fining of 75 other businesses, at a total amount of ALL 5.8 million.
Officials say that the informality and the fiscal evasion still remains a problem but compared to the previous year, the situation has improved significantly. The government has undertaken several measures in order to improve the tourism sector in Albania and to ensure improved services for tourists by public or private entities.
