TIRANE, July 1
The Chair of the National Coastal Agency, Auron Tare has proposed the adoption of a special fund beach and shoreline maintenance fund.
βSpecific funds are needed for our beaches in order to keep them clean and safe. So far, we have seen improvement, but there are many problems,β Tare said.
According to Tare, the main concern in the southern beaches is related to waste left at the side of national roads while in Durres and Kavaja, the main problem is that sand is not clean.
Moreover, Tare says that lifeguard towers have been installed in many beaches all over the coast. Some of the private beaches have their own rescuers. Tare highlighted that every beach must have lifeguards and responsible institutions have to survey them in order to protect swimmers from drowning.
In the meantime, the Energy Distribution Operator confirmed that it concluded a major overhaul in the southern coastal area in order to provide adequate power supply during the peak of the tourism season.
