According to sources from the Ministry of Finances, some international banks have requested to finance the EUR 250 million debt that the Albania government will receive, using the World Bank as a guarantor. The loan will support the internal bank system for the increase of lending for businesses, according to the government.
Based on this request, the Albanian government has announced April 1st as the deadline for all interested banks or foreign investors to send their official offers to the Ministry of Finances. The government plans to take a ten year term loan in the international market and to renovate a EUR 300 million debt that Albania took in 2010 by using Eurobonds.
Sources form the Ministry of Finances say that the review and the selection of the most convenient offers is expected to end within April of this year and the loan will enter into force starting from May.
Even why Albania needs a total amount of EUR 550 million debt from international banks and investors, the situation seems positive and the public finances are reliable in the international market, say experts.
