Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations will establish an office in Tirana capital, announced the Ministry of Agriculture after the Minister Edmond Panariti signed an agreement with FAO.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Agriculture and the Regional Director of FAO for Europe Toni Alozi, which expressed his readiness to assist in the development of the agricultural sector in Albania. According to Alozi, the FAO will give assistance in the technical aspect in the agriculture sector and in agro culture as well, in coherence with the climacteric and technologic developments.
In turn, the Albanian Minister Edmond Panariti declared that FAO will have the total support of the Albanian government and praised the assistance of this organization to Albania. Our challenge, said Panariti, is to empower this office in order so it can play an important role not only in Albania but also for other Balkan countries.
FAO’s strategic objectives highlighted in their official website are the elimination of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition, the transformation of agriculture into a more productive and sustainable sector and the reduction of rural poverty.
