In 2016, the government will apply a new scheme for the categorization of businesses by giving priority to family businesses in the new fiscal package, declared the Prime Minister Edi Rama at the meeting with 61 local government representatives. According to him, the next yearβs budget will provide more facilities for small businesses, especially if they are family businesses.
The new fiscal package also foresees more punishing laws for abusive traders regarding taxes and other state obligations they fail to meet. If new businesses are not declared at state institutions after they start operating in the market, this will be considered a criminal act and will be judged under the Criminal Code laws.
Rama also announced the beginning of the audit process in local governmental units after the signing of an agreement with auditing companies. He also announced that these local units will start repaying their debts to the Electrical Energy Distribution Operator, a debt accumulated in the past years which according to the Ministry of Energy is estimated to be ALL 1.5 billion.
