TIRANA, October 9
Mirdita region is switching from copper to tourism and not has its first marked hiking route. The seven km long trail was inaugurated on Tuesday in Rubiku area. This is a joint initiative of Mirdita Municipality and Albania – Austria Partnership Marianne Graf and it is part of the local strategy on sustainable development. The area of Mirdita is no longer an industrial center like it was when copper extraction was booming. Now, the area should take advantage of its tourism potential.
The walking route is marked on all its length and includes all the necessary infrastructure.
A promotional activity was held at the premises of InfoKulla with representatives of tour agencies, tourism-related businesses, hiking Mirdita Team.
The trail itinerary: InfoKulla – Marub – Pictograms – the Ancient Castle – Marianne Graf Point – Bulshiza – Biba Inn – the Catholic Church on the Rock.
Mayor of Mirdita Ndrec Deda said that the goal is to create over 400km of hiking routes for the fans of outdoor activities in the entire region.
