Fines for Premises That Allow Smoking Repeatedly

TIRANA, June 14

600.000 Leke will be the fine for all of the subjects that break the law regarding the smoking on the premises if they will be caught several times doing so within a period of 3 months.
The draft from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has now passed to the parliament that predicts the strengthening measures for this law enforcement. Also, according to the propositions, if the premises break the law two times within a period of 1 year, they will be fined 300.000 Leke, and as well the suspension of the activity until they pay off the fine.
With the new law changes, a package of cigarettes should contain 20 cigarettes, removing from the market the small packages containing 10 cigarettes. But this is a measure that will be implemented 2 years after the law comes into force.
Also, after the complaints from the small businesses for selling the packages of cigarettes only in some certain shops, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu has allowed now that the packages of cigarettes can be sold in all of the shops of the country.
