The Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) of European Commission published the report for Albania, in the frame of the analysis of EU candidate states and those in the integration process.
The report says that in the first three months of 2014, remittances decreased by 4.1 in annual terms. Meanwhile, the foreign direct investments increased by 17%, compared to the same period of a year before.
Remittances from expantriates in foreign currency, have been since 1992 of vital importance for the majority of the Albanian population, and one of the main items that finances the great imbalance between the export of goods and the import of services.
