In the framework of Swiss government support for the gasification process in Albania, the Albanian Minister of Energy and Industry, Damian Gjiknuri held a meeting with a Swiss government delegation headed by the Swiss vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Georges Martin.
The meeting was attended also by the Swiss ambassador to Albania Christoph Graf, the General Director of TAP project other representatives of this project in Albania.
According to the Ministry’s press release, the Minister Gjiknuri praised the support the Swiss government has shown for the development of energy sector in Albania and for the support it is showing for the gasification of Albania, in the edge of TAP project implementation in Albania. According to him, the Swiss government has provided a EUR 6.6 million grant through SECO (State Secretariat for Economic Affairs) for the gasification master plan.
At the meeting, the pairs discussed on the most efficient manners both countries can enhance the cooperation in the energy sector as the Albanian Minister Gjiknuri stressed the importance of improving the efficiency of energy in Albania, as a field where the countries can collaborate in the future. Gjiknuri announced that the government has prepared a new law in relation to this and is expected to approve by the parliament very soon.
In turn, the Swiss vice Minister of Foreign Affairs hailed the undertaken reforms so far by the Albanian government in the energy sector which aim the increase of liquidity in the sector and the reduction of losses, which according to him are impressive achievements in only two years.
