Albanian exports have as destination European Union markets which according to official statistics, is the main trade partner of Albania in terms of exports and imports as well. Albanian exports 66.3% of its exports in EU markets and about 55.6% of imports come from these markets.
Only 21.7% of Albanian exports have as a destination the regional markets of countries as Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia Herzegovina and Moldova) while 12% of exports go to other markets. In terms of imports, 12% of Albanian imports come from the before mentioned regional countries and 32% of them from other countries.
Most of the exports and imports are focused in the agriculture sector, mainly in agro industry sector where processed agricultural products comprise 48.6% of exports and 63.9% of imports. Agricultural products comprise 47.9% of exports and 25.6% of imports while livestock products comprise 3.5% of exports and 10.5% of imports.
According to statistics published by the Institute of Statistics, the most exported products are the conserved fish, the medicinal plants, fruits and vegetables which altogether comprise 65.23% of the total of Albanian exports.
