Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, Erion Veliaj, visited a garment company in Tirana and spoke regarding the Employment Promotion Fund initiatives for 2015. Veliaj called all garment industry companies to apply for this $4.5 million fund in 2015, 2.5 million of which will be given to the garment industry businesses. All money that comes from 5% supplement of textile industry income tax will be than distributed to this sector through the Employment Promotion Fund.
“If a company applies for the Employment Promotion Fund, as much as the company hires unemployed people, as much points it will gain. It is a transparent formula which rewards these companies based on the number of people they hire, especially if they come from rural areas. I urge all companies of the textile sector to apply in time in order to benefit from this funding scheme,” declared minister Veliaj.
Following these developments and governmental backing on garment industry businesses, Veliaj declared the establishment of a new design, logistics and fashion professional school so that companies of this sector, to have a specialized staff in Albania. “The only way to make these companies even more successful, is to add other work processes by having professional staff,” ended Veliaj.
