Albanian Ministers of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati and Energy Damian Gjiknuri headed the Albanian delegation in an official visit to the Republic of Cyprus on January 31, with the aim to enhance economic diplomacy between countries.
The Albanian delegation held meetings with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiades, Chamber of Representatives’ president Janakis Omiru, Cyprus Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energy and representatives from the Chamber of Trade, Industry and Cyprus Agency for Fostering Investments.
The key points of discussion in their meetings related to the intensification of two pair relations and enhancing collaboration in various fields, in order to activate both countries’ potentials in energy, tourism and maritime transport sectors.
Ministers of Energy discussed about the latest reforms Albania has implemented in energy system, which as seen by the first results, are giving positive effects in economic growth and the creation of a favorable business climate. Albanian Minister of Energy stressed that Albania can benefit from Cyprus’ experiences in managing the economic zones, by adding that “Albania has huge natural resources which can be of interest for foreign investors, and for that we are encouraging foreign companies to invest, by assisting in the strengthen of the electrical energy system.”
Speaking about TAP Pipeline project and its huge potentials and importance for participating countries in the project, the two Ministers highlighted the need to increase collaboration in the diversifying countries’ natural resources. Albanian Minister Damian Gjiknuri invited his Cyprus counterpart to attend Oil and Gas 2015” international forum which will be held in Tirana, in March 2015.
