Businesses of foreign businessmen, whose investment in Albania will be of EUR 1ml to EUR 50 ml worth, will be considered as strategic investors with a special status. This is what the new law on strategic investments foresees, according to experts. The new law provides several facilities for strategic investors in bureaucracies and other aspects during the implementation of the investment in Albania.
According to the law, strategic investors will benefit from the privileges of having a special status if they invest sums of EUR 30 ml to EUR 50 ml in sectors of mining, infrastructure, energy, electronic communications and urban wastes.
For the tourism sector, an investor must invest from EUR 5 ml to EUR 50 ml to be considered as a “strategic investor” and also to create at least 80 jobs. For the agriculture and fishing sectors, a strategic investor must invest up to EUR 3 ml to benefit from the special status of a “strategic investor” and to open at least 50 new jobs.
For “zones with economic priority” a strategic investor must invest at least EUR 1ml to benefit from the special status given by the state. Such investors should also create at least 150 new jobs and will benefit from fiscal easiness and simplified procedures.
