TIRANA, August 2
Following the revision of the contract with the concessionary of ‘Mother Teresa’ Airport the Council of Ministers, decided to start the procedures that pave the way to the construction of a new airport in southern Albania.
The Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure received an authorization by the Council of Ministers for starting the public procurement procedure on a feasibility study for the construction of an airport in southern Albania. The decision was adopted during the latest meeting of the Council of Ministers.
Based on the decision that was made public on the official website of the institution, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is going to procure a limit fund of Lek 30 million. This amount was approved for the economic program of 2016 of the Civil Aviation Authority and Albcontrol Company.
According to the decision, the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure is responsible for coordinating works with the Civil Aviation Authority concerning the development of the procurement procedure. Further on, the contract with the winner economic operator will be signed by the Civil Aviation Authority.
