The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Water Management, Edmond Panariti welcomed in an official meeting the Republic of China Ambassador to Tirana, Jiang Yu, at the Ministry of Agriculture premises in Tirana. The two officials praised the excellent relations between the two countries and the fruitful cooperation in the agriculture and agro business fields during the last years.
During the meeting, the Minister and the ambassador stressed that China and Albania should continue working in the current projects in the agriculture field and in identifying new projects to work on jointly in the future.
Lately, with the personal initiative of the Chinese ambassador, the Republic of China has funded a project for buying 10 new excavators for the opening and cleaning of the main drainage channels in the most problematic areas. The Minister Panariti praised the help as crucial for the equipment of responsible institutions which work in preventing flooding and in maintaining the drainage systems.
The ambassador declared that China will also support Albania in the irrigation system in order to improve the irrigation of agricultural lands. On behalf of this, the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture and the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation in the upcoming months.
