The Albanian Institute of Statistics published recently a report on the number of newly established businesses since 2008, the year when the Albanian economy entered in crisis.
According to the report, there are about 111,000 active businesses operating in Albania, most of them established after the economic crisis started affecting the Albanian economy back in 2008.
The official figures of INSTAT show that Albanians have started searching for new income sources by opening businesses and becoming entrepreneurs, since remittances decreased dramatically when the economic crisis affected the biggest European economies, such as Greece and Italy, the countries where circa 2 millions of Albanians live and work.
Another reason for this tendency relates to the governmental incentives in the ease of taxes for new businesses and other facilities offered to new entrepreneurs.
