On June 2nd, the Bank of Albania, the International Financial Cooperation and the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs organized the “Cooperative Governance in the financial sector” workshop in Tirana. The workshop focused in issues related to the cooperative governance and the internal audit in the financial sector in Albania.
Present in the workshop, the Bank of Albania’s First Vice Governor, Elisabeta Gjoni, said a cooperative governance includes the combination of several relations between the management sector, the board of directors, the shareholders and the groups of interests and such kind of governance leads to the increase of confidence among the public and confidence in the country’s banking system.
Such practice, according to Gjoni, provides a consolidated structure through which an enterprise sets its objectives, the means to achieve these objectives and to monitor the enterprise’s performance.
The workshop was attended by CEOs of private banks in Albania and representatives from the EBRD, the Swiss Embassy in Tirana and the Albanian Authority of Financial Surveillance.
