Bank of Albania experts declared in a press conference that the country is experiencing a progressive economic growth, although the inflation remains at low levels. According to experts, the aggregate demand, the employment rate and the production are performing under their real potential, and thus this is causing a low inflation.
The external economic situation still possesses a challenge for Albania’s economy at times when the internal economic resources are not yet consolidated. In a medium term period, the Bank foresees that the inflation will reach Bank’s objectives, although this will require some time.
A few days ago, the Bank decreased the basic interest rate by 0.25 points of percentage – to 1.75%. A latest report issued by the Bank showed that country’s economy needs a monetary stimulus in order to boost the domestic demand and lending.
