TIRANA, September 12
The footwear and manufacturing sector generated over Euro 200 million in the first half of 2018. According to the data provided by the Bank of Albania (BoA), revenues generated by the export of manufacturing services increased by 35 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The footwear and manufacturing sector accounts for 44percent of total exports. The sector successfully resisted the last decade crisis. It mostly focusses on the manufacturing of garments and footwear for international companies. However, the manufacturing sector expanded in various bisectors such as seafood and more specifically anchovies processing.
The sector of manufacturing services expanded also into other fields that require a higher level of specialization and technical skills such as electromotors.
In total, the Albanian economy benefited over Euro 520 million from exported services during the first half of 2018. As it was mentioned above, exported services mostly consist of footwear and manufacturing and tourism and other sectors that are not related to goods processing like call centers and ITC.
