TIRANA, January 18
Singapore-Albania Trade and Investment Forum, which took place on Wednesday, showcased the opportunities that Albania offers to international investors located in Singapore. The forum that aimed at evoking potential investors’ interest in Albania was attended by the Governor of the Bank of Albania (BoA) Gent Sejko, Minister of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship Milva Ekonomi, Minister of Energy Damian Gjiknuri and representatives from the Albanian Association of Banks, the Director of the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA), and representatives of the business community.
Governor Sejko stated that despite the recent challenging situation in our key trading partners, Albania has shown clear signs of improvement, such as the upward trend of economic growth. Also, the general economic environment provides opportunities for the increase in productivity of foreign investments in Albania. The combination of the accommodative monetary policy with the fiscal policy consolidation has contributed to the sustainability of the country’s macroeconomic balances. He also highlighted the advantages of the financial sector in Albania, like the low costs of financing thanks to a stable financial environment, the ample liquidity of the banking sector which is capable of supporting the financial needs for investments, as well as the real potential for new players in the market. According to him, these advantages make Albania a competitive destination in the region and and provide excellent opportunities for the investors, as well as for an economic collaboration between the two countries in the future.
On her part, Minister Ekonomi said that the forum is a great option for presenting Albania’s potential to foreign investors.
