Albanian Post Service and USAID Albania will establish a joint project for creating an online payment platform, to give Albanian citizens the opportunity to make online payments through their cellphones.
This service will avoid long rows for various payments which currently are made at Albanian Post Service offices and will allow citizens to pay online their bills in all regions of Albania. The aim of this project is to seize the 100% of online payments in country and to start in a few months.
The platform was presented during a conference held in Tirana capital on February 26, with the participation of telecommunication companies’ representatives currently operating in country, deputy Prime Minister Niko Peleshi, Minister of Innovation Milena Harito and Bank of Albania’s Governor Genti Sejko.
Currently in the market operate only two online platforms which offer services for the online payment of bills and online purchases, Easy Pay, an Albanian owned company and M-pay a French owned company.
