Trade between Albania and Greece has increased slightly during January of this year, according to official statistics published by the Albanian Institute of Statistics. Compared to January 2015, during January 2016 Albanian exports towards Greek markets increased slightly while Greek exports to Albania performed negatively, by decreasing in insignificant figures.
During January 2016, Albania imported from Greece “food items and beverages, tobacco” at a value of ALL 950 million, chemical and plastic products at a value of ALL 400 million, and other products.
In overall, Albanian exports were estimated at a value of ALL 674 million, increasing slightly compared to the value of exports in January 2016 (ALL 572 million). However, Greek exports to Albania are estimated at a higher value than Albanian exports to Greek markets. The Albanian Institute of Statistics says Greek exports to Albania during January 2016 reached the value of ALL 2594 million while in January 2015 they reached the value of ALL 2696 million.
Trade between Albania and Greece comprises about 6.4% of the total of Albania’s trade with other countries, making Greece the third trade partner of Albania.
