Albanian Customs in cooperation with Crown Agents and SICPA will start a wide inspection campaign during March in all retail and wholesale points of alcoholic beverages with the aim to identify the traders which do not respect the trading standards for such products and to seize undeclared, illegal and falsified alcoholic beverages, if they exist.
According to the General Directorate of Customs, many traders are often deceived by rogue suppliers and the new “Anti-Fraud” strategy will aim to reach four goals through this inspection campaign:
- To protect incomes
- To work in partnership with traders which are engaged to operate pursuant to the law.
- To identify and punish each trader which tries to fraud customers.
- To protect consumers from the usage of potentially dangerous alcoholic beverages.
The campaign will be divided into two phases where the first phase will be focused in raising the awareness and informing.
The second phase will be the work in ground, the inspection of wholesale and retail trade points and in cases inspectors will find illegal or out of standards alcoholic beverages, the Directorate of Customs will take measures for the prevention and the interruption of illegal activities for traders.
