TIRANA, December 6
Albania is to chair the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2020. From January 1st, 2019, Albania will become part of the OSCE Chairmanship Troika together with Slovakia as the incoming chair and Italy, the outgoing chair country.
“The MC DEC on OSCE Chairmanship 2020 is adopted! Congratulations to Albania AlMissionVienna, AlbanianDiplo for this important achievement! We look forward to working with you together with SlovakPMVienna in the Troika format,” Italy OSCE Chair 2018 tweeted on Wednesday.
Italy is currently chairing OSCE while the role will be overtaken by Slovakia starting January 1st.
The OSCE Chairmanship is held for one calendar year and is chaired by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the country presiding over the OSCE in that year. Meanwhile, the candidacy is adopted by 57 OSCE member countries.
