The Ministerial Council of member countries of the Energy Community held its 12th session in the headquarters of the Diplomatic Academy of Kiev, Ukraine. The meeting of the member countries representatives led by deputy president of the European Commission, Gunther Oettinger, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the Ukranian Minister of Energy, Yuri Prodan and the Albanian Minister of Energy and Industry, Damian Gjiknuri.
Albania will take the presidency of the Energy Community in 2015 and in the framework of this, the Albanian Minister of Energy presented to the participants the priorities and main goals of the Albanian presidency. “Today more than ever the contracting pairs must understand the importance of the exploitation of the whole potential of the Energy Community legal framework, with the aim to improve the energy sector. It is also important, the creation of a joint regulatory area with the European Union,” declared Minister Gjiknuri.
“The implementation of the third package will not be easy but its one of the conditions in order to be part of an European integrated market of energy which assures fair competition and empowers the role of the consumers,” added the Albanian Minister of Energy, Damian Gjiknuri. According to him, the prior points of the Albanian presidency agenda will be the policies for a guaranteed, competitive and stable energy supply.
The final report regarding the implementation of reforms by state members of the Energy Community evaluates the resolution of the conflict with Czech company CEZ, as a key point for the implementation of crucial reforms in the Albanian energy sector.
