TIRANA, July 18
According to the Albanian government, the economic growth for 2016 will be 3.4 percent. This was declared on Monday by Minister of Finance Arben Ahmetaj, who highlighted that reforms undertaken so far are showing their results.
According to Ahmetaj, the Albanian economy surpassed the crisis and entered a growing trend. The Minister of Finance stated that the Albanian economy will stay on a positive trajectory.
“The latest statistics confirm the positive trends of Albanian economy. The growth forecast for 2016 is expected to be 3.4 percent. As odds are, 2017 will be a better year in terms of economic results,” Ahmetaj said.
Further on, he highlighted that the main economic indicators are increasing. More new businesses were opened compared to the previous year while the unemployment rate decreased during the first half of 2016. He also said that inflation is low and that the data issued by the Bank of Albania (BoA) confirm that consumption increased.
On the other hand, Ahmetaj said that a technical government wouldn’t be good for the Albanian economy.
“We’re not in the conditions for a technical government. I can say that all the laws and legal initiatives on business facilitation programs will be sent for approval,” Ahmetaj declared.
