TIRANA, January 19
The joint customs point between Albania and Kosovo that will open at the port of Durres, will provide Kosovan importers with a single point interface for customs clearance. Finance ministers of Albania and Kosovo Arben Ahmetaj and Avdullah Hoti declared on Wednesday that this initiative would strengthen cooperation and facilitate trade between both countries.
“The most important thing for us is to agree on the tangible measures that we should undertake until February 15 regarding the joint customs point for goods destined for the Kosovan market,” Finance Minister of Kosovo Avdullah Hoto said.
Moreover, both governments have created a joint working group, which is finding trade obstacles between Albania and Kosovo.
According to Ahmetaj, all procedures that obstruct trade exchange between the two countries must be revised.
The two ministers highlighted that this is the only way for encouraging trade between Albania and Kosovo.
“Our duty is to avoid new obstacles and eliminate all existing barriers,” Minister Ahmetaj concluded.
