In the framework of strengthening the economic ties and increasing trade, Albania and Kosovo have signed a joint agreement according to which both countries must work in increasing investment and trade among them.
“For increasing and protecting investment” agreement was signed by the Albanian Minister of Economic Development, Milva Ekonomi, and her Kosovar counterpart Hykmete Bajrami, after a meeting the two Ministers held in Tirana, on May 3rd, 2016.
According to the Albanian Minister of Economic Development, Milva Ekonomi, “the agreement for boosting and protecting the investment between Albania and Kosovo aims to promote and boost investments in both countries. The agreement aims to guarantee investors that their investment will be protected and treated in full compliance with the law and international standards.”
In turn, the Kosovar Minister of Trade, Hykmete Bajrami, said such agreement will increase the trade between Albania and Kosovo. “Trade between the two countries has increased significantly during the last two years because Kosovo exported products worth 40 million Euro to Albanian markets in 2015. Thus, this agreement will help us to increase such collaboration.”
The agreement will enter in force after the two countries will meet the legal criteria for signing an international agreement. The two Ministers also discussed collaboration opportunities in the tourism industry.
