On December 29th, the Italian Ambassador to Tirana Alberto Cutillo was welcomed in an official meeting by the Minister of Environment Lefter Koka, at the Ministry of Environment in Tirana. The two high officials discussed on the excellent relations between the two countries and the possibilities to enhance cooperation in the environmental field.
The Minister Koka discussed with the Italian ambassador about the reforms the government has undertaken in the environment field, the achievements in the past two years and the objectives and priorities for 2016. In turn, the Italian ambassador Cutillo ensured the Minister that Italy will support and help Albanian in this sector by increasing investments and by exchanging experiences. The ambassador was also presented with Albania’s efforts to update and improve the legislation regarding the environment based on the EU legislation on this field.
In the environment field, Albania and Italy have cooperated in the management of wastes and on the protection of maritime waters from the pollution of ships.
