On Thursday, October 15, the Albanian Minister of Energy Damian Gjiknuri welcomed in an official meeting his counterpart from United Arab Emirates, Suhail Mohammed Faraj Al Mazrouei, in Tirana capital. The two Ministers of Energy discussed about the need and the opportunities Albania offers to foreign investors in the energy sector.
The Minister Gjiknuri said the country offers opportunities for investments in the renewable and solar energy projects and stressed that Albania needs investments which will increase the energy efficiency, mainly in public buildings.
Albania still needs to expand its producing capacities in the energy sector, said Gjiknuri. The minister invited investors from the United Arab Emirates to participate in projects that aim to generate energy from water and solar sources, in projects for the production of energy from hydropower plants and projects in the gas field. The Minister asked support from investors to establish the Efficiency Fund and technical assistance in undeveloped sectors such as the renewable energy.
In turn, the United Arab Emirates Minister of Energy Suhail Mohammed Faraj Al Mazrouei, declared that United Arab Emirates are producing photovoltaic cells for solar energy panels at the lowest price in the world and expressed his readiness to invest in projects related to the renewable and solar energy, in the mining industry and gas field.
