TIRANA, November 23
The negotiations between Albania and Germany on policies for development were concluded on Thursday with a record grant of Euro 168.4 million for 2019-2020. Thus, turning Germany into the major bilateral donor. The financial support consists of joint projects in the sectors of energy, water supply and sewerage, waste management, and economic development. Moreover, it will provide funding for regional projects such as those related to the European Union (EU) integration, fight against crime, marine pollution, and flood control.
The protocol was signed by German Ambassador to Tirana Susanne Schutz and the Albanian Minister of Finance and Economy, Arben Ahmetaj.
Ambassador Schutz declared that the record figure of financial support is a testimony of the great importance that the Federal Government pays to support Albania on its path towards the EU. She highlighted that Germany always stood by Albania’s side for the last 30 years and will remain a reliable partner in the future
