Albanian authorities have called Russia to expel its decision in banning Albanian fruits and vegetables imports. The decision came after allegations that Albanian products imported by Russia were indeed re-exports from the EU countries. Representatives of the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture will travel to Russia to start talks with high ranked officials.
The suspicions of Russia on the origin of the products came after noticing an increase of trade exchanges between Albania and other EU countries. Russian Ministry of Agriculture published a report of an investigation process on this case, were falsified certificates were detected. But, Albanian Ministry of Agriculture representatives claim that their institution has taken several measures to increase the security level and there were no falsified certificates of agricultural imports.
Minister of Agriculture Edmond Panariti asked more detailed information regarding this situation by declaring that Albania has not violated any kind of trade exchanges rule with the Russian Federation. The actions of Russia on Albanian agricultural products are not justified, added Panariti.
The Albanian part has been concerned about this unexpected event, since trade exchanges with Russia have started increasing in latest years, and the damage is very big for Albania.
