On Wednesday, September 16, the Prime Minister Edi Rama held an official visit to the Region of Puglia in southern Italy, where he met with the President of the region, Mr. Michele Emiliano. According to the declaration made by the Albanian Prime Minister during his official visit in Puglia, Albania and Puglia region should establish a multinational company for the use of water resources of Albania, which will bring mutual benefits to both countries.
The Primer Rama declared, “Nowadays there are more than 20.000 Italians living and working in Albania and they have established many companies. In this way, we have to do more in enhancing cooperation between Albania and the Region of Puglia because we are geographically connected. I had the pleasure to discuss with the President of Puglia region about a very important project in water management. Albania has many water resources and reserves and in turn Puglia has many knowledge and experience in water management, so we need to establish a multinational company for the usage and management of water resources in Albania, which will provide mutual benefits for both countries.”
Speaking about Albanian migrants who currently live and work in Italy, the Primer Rama said that “Albanians are now fully integrated in the Italian world and they contribute in country’s budget by EUR 3.2 billion taxes. Emigration has become part of our history books and gives us the lesson that it is also a source of growth for migrants’ country of origin and for the host country as well.”
In turn, the President of the Region of Puglia, Michele Emiliano evaluated the government for undertaking important reforms in the past months and expressed interest for close collaboration with Albania in terms of tourism, trade, transport and water management.
