The Albanian and Kosovar government will initiate a new joint project to establish the Diaspora Youth and Students Union. According to the Albanian Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro, the Albanian youth living in Diaspora can give a vast and important contribute in the development of the two countries.
The main purpose of this project is the economic and cultural benefit Albania and Kosovo will have from these youngsters and students once they return to Albania to share their professional experiences.
Kosovar Minister of Diaspora, Valon Murati asked for a closer cooperation between the two countries and a bigger support for young adults who study abroad. Being two countries with developing economies, Albania and Kosovo must utilize all the forms of human capital to meet the criteria set by the European Union for their integration.
Remittances play a huge role in the economic sector in Albania, given that in 2008 the amount of remittances brought to Albania were equal to the 15% of country’s Gross Domestic Product.
