Starting from May 1st of this year, Albania and Kosovo have established a joint Custom point, declared the Deputy Minister of Finances which also serves as the General Director of Albanian Customs, Irena Beqiraj.
The General Director of Customs added that at this joint Custom point has been established also a special unit of the National Authority of Food, in order to control the quality of merchandise and to avoid the long lines. In a near date, the costs of transport or terminals which are considered as economic tariffs will no longer be applied, declared Beqiraj.
The two countries have been working for more than two months to implement the decision made at the Albania-Kosovo Joint Meeting in the beginning of this year, in Tirana. Following the historic meeting of the two governments, the representatives of the respective Custom Directorates reached an agreement on April of this year.
Albania and Kosovo have no longer obstacles in doing business.
