On the verge of Angela Merkel’s visit to Albania on June 8th, Germany and Albania signed six financial cooperation agreements worth EUR 118 million. The agreements were signed by the German ambassador to Tirana Helmut Hoffman, the Albanian Ministers of Finance and Economic Development Shkelqim Cani and Arben Ahmetaj, and the Vise Prime Minister Niko Peleshi.
These agreements will finance development projects in improving water and electrical energy supply system throughout the country, agreements on the safety of dams and agreement on waste water systems.
Hoffman ensured that these agreements will provide better services for all the citizens and evaluated the work done for reaching the signing of these important agreements before the visit of Merkel to Tirana.

In turn, the Minister of Finances Shkelqim Cani highlighted the continuous support of Germany for the Albanian peoples and the government, considering it as a huge contributor in country’s development. According to Cani, the reach of these agreements will increase the interest of German investments in Albania.
