Being one of the world’s most powerful economies and a partner of Albania in the communism period, China still remains Albania’s main partner of trade exchanges. In the framework of the intensification of cooperation between the two countries, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Selim Belortaja and China’s ambassador to Albania Jiang Yu held a meeting in Tirana, on April 2nd.
Based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release, the two high ranked officials held discussions regarding the further development of two pair relations between Albania and China. On December 2014, Albania and China celebrated the 65th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two countries.
Belortaja and the China ambassador also shared their views on the cooperation of China with South and Central Europe countries on behalf of “One generation, one way” initiative. The initiative was presented at the two day China – South and Central Europe Economic Summit, which took place in Serbian capital of Belgrade on December 2014, known as “16+1 Summit”.
During the Summit, China approved the financing of several joint projects with South and Central Europe countries in fields of infrastructure, industry and agriculture. One of the most important projects reached between the Albanian and Chinese government is the financing of “Road of Arbri” project.
