Referring to INSTAT figures of the first semiannual of this year, Albania and China have enhanced economic cooperation significantly in terms of exports and imports, compared to a year ago. According to the INSTAT report, Albanian traders are strengthening their trade ties with Chinese markets, given that they are importing more from China than from regional countries.
During the first six months of 2015, imports from China reached the value of ALL 21.6 billion, increasing by ALL 4.4 billion more within a year. “On July of 2015, Albania imported from China 13,3% more than in 2014, with Greece 7.2% more and with Italy only 1.7% more,” cites the report. These figures are surprising given that Italy has always been Albania’s closest trade partner, Greece as well.
Albanian traders do not prefer to import from Serbia, Macedonia and Turkey anymore since imports from Serbia decreased by 27.7%, imports from Macedonia decreased by 4.1% while those from Turkey decreased by 1.3%. Regarding the increase of imports from China, experts say that Albanian traders are benefiting from the low prices of Chinese products.
