Vlora region will be home to the largest photovoltaic power plant in the Balkans. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (MIE) launched the procedure on the selection bid offer for the development and construction of the solar power station with an installed capacity of 50MW. The project will be constructed in the sun-baked field of Akerni, one of the most suitable locations in the country in terms of solar resource potential.
The investment project value is expected to be Euro70 million. This is the first project of this capacity in the sector of renewable energy in Albania. At the same time, it aims at being one of the largest solar power plant projects in the region. In the meantime, MIE calls on all interested companies to submit their bid offers by September 17. The project foresees a contractual term of 30 years while the energy guaranteed purchase price will be €100 per MW for the first 15 years.
Akerni area has received major attention during the recent year due to the plans for the construction of Vlora Airport.
