TIRANA, June 5
Future plans for the development of tourism aim at attracting more tourists to Albania. Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi said on Monday, that there are opportunities for the construction of new tourism resorts in different regions with tourism potential. According to him, the northern region offers ideal chances for the construction of large capacity resorts, especially the beach of Velipoja, and Shengjin that are still untouched.
“We have planed the options for tourism development in four different areas. The first is the area from Karaburun Peninsula to Buna River delta that is optimal for family holidays. The area consists of numerous sand beaches where family resorts can be constructed. The second area is the southern region where tourism and agritourism policies in the Riviera area can be combined together. In the meantime, agro producing activities can be developed in Berat, Gjirokastra, Permet, Saranda, and Vlora. The third area consists of the Albanian Alps in the north, while the fourth area is Tirana,” Klosi said.
In the meantime, he added that priority was given to the network of local festivals, as they will serve to trade local products. Klosi said that a culinary festival was planned in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
