In a meeting with journalists, representatives of businesses and experts, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Edmond Panariti made some conclusions regarding the achievements in the agriculture sector during 2015.
According to Panariti, during 2015 the agricultural production in overall increased by 2.9% compared to 2014, the production of vegetables increased by 8%, the production of fruit trees increased by 11.4% while the production of citrus increased by 43%. “Made in Albania bio products are of what we can feel proud about,” declared the Minister.
Speaking about the strategy of the Ministry for the development of the agriculture sector during the upcoming year, the Minister stressed that some of the main objectives of the Ministry are the improvement of the efficiency of supporting schemes for farmers and the use of new technologies in production in order to increase the agricultural production and the production standards.
Some areas where the Ministry will focus its investments are the improvement of drainage and irrigation infrastructure, the implementation of standards in food safety and the formalization of the fishing sector. “Our main focus is the increase of the number of greenhouses,” declared Panariti.
