In a press interview, the Minister of Agriculture Edmond Panariti declared that the formalization process in the agriculture sector is being implemented through financial supportive instruments which support only the products which are gathered and delivered to licensed warehouses by registered farmers.
Panariti declared that only registered and identified farmers will be supported by the government and will have the right to apply for subsidies schemes provided by the state budget and also for funding EU programs. “Informality is decreasing significantly since being an informal farmer nowadays in Albania is not convenient to the farmer,” declared Panariti.
Agriculture sector registered the highest increase in terms of annual contribution to the country’s economy for 2015. The Minister declared in the interview that “referring to the latest figures for the first semiannual of this year, the agricultural production increased to ALL 4.4 billion during this period, compared to ALL 2,9 billion in the same period of 2015.” Exports of vegetables doubled as well during this period, said the Minister.
According to Panariti, these positive results have come due to the financial support the government has shown to farmers by cutting the circulation oil and carbon taxes for fishing boats and the decrease of oil price to 70 ALL / per liter has affected in the increase of greenhouses in the country.
