TIRANA, February 26
Starting February 28, Albanian farmers can apply for grants from the farming support schemes for their agricultural projects. The only condition is that must have been equipped with an identification number (NUIS) also known as NIPT in Albanian. With the exception of the ID card, no additional documents will be required during the application process that can be done at Agro Pika or in the premises of regional agriculture offices. Prime Minister Edi Rama shared an animated video on Facebook about this process.
Agropika are one-stop shop units found in different regions that simplifies the application for grants and funding. Previously, farmers were required to submit a list of 13 different documents in order to apply for a grant. Afterward, the office will prove the authenticity of the application.
Previously, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural development Niko Peleshi highlighted that farms need to meet specific standards in order to receive funding. The criteria for receiving funding were adopted by the Albanian Council of Ministers.
