TIRANA, April 24
Agricultural exports increased by 25-30 percent in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period of 2017. In the meantime, even the list of countries where those products are exported expanded to the Middle East and Northern Africa.
βMade in Albania agricultural products are exported to different markets that include the European Union, Russia, Middle East, and Northern Africa, deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilir Halilaj said in an interview for the Albanian Telegraphic Agency.
He added that fish products rank first in the list of Albanian agricultural exports. Albanian sardines and anchovies are sold to the EU market and especially in Germany and in the Scandinavian region.
Given the expanded activity of fish processing plants and the high demand from the international market, Albanian authorities are working in order to get higher export quota for fish products. Low export quota remains a challenge to the Albanian fishing industry.
